Road surface models

3D Mapping Solutions provides digital surface models with a relative height accuracy of better than 1mm and screen rulings up to 5mm for all kinds of applications as standard. In the automotive sector, these models are an important basis for a wide range of applications and represent an important basis for development, especially in the areas of tire development, noise analysis, driving dynamics and driving comfort simulation.

Realistic scenarios, which are used in driving simulations and computer games, can be derived from the combination of these surface models with the original laser scanner data as well as the parallel acquired measurement images.

Digital models of the road surface do not only contain the absolute height information. By combining a high resolution with a high relative accuracy, they offer the possibility to derive relative measures such as the road condition variables "longitudinal evenness" and "transverse evenness" with high precision.

In comparison with existing or planning data, detailed analyses can be carried out and precise statements on target/actual differences can be made.  For example, small-scale wear can be reliably detected, masses for asphalt paving precisely determined and control data for milling very precisely determined.
