PLIMOS

Planning of intermodal mobility offers based on 3D city models

Problem statement

Project objective

In the project "Planning of intermodal mobility offers based on 3D city models" (PLIMOS), services are to be provided with which intermodal public transport can be planned, simulated and optimized on the basis of a digital 3D city and street space model for the municipality of Grafing near Munich. One of the goals is the operation of a (partially) autonomous e-shuttle bus.

Realization

In the project, a technical service for municipalities is being developed, with which the use of highly automated electric shuttle buses in intermodal public transport can be planned, simulated and optimized on the basis of a three-dimensional, digital city model. On the one hand, the simulation is to include a survey of the current traffic situation in order to be able to design possible future scenarios by integrating (partially) autonomous e-shuttles and to uncover traffic unbundling possibilities. On the other hand, infrastructural and socio-economic requirements for the operation of e-shuttles can also be planned in the city model, such as charging concepts and demand-oriented routing and stops. The simulation of highly automated electric shuttle buses in the virtual city model is also of interest for manufacturers of e-shuttles or for vehicle development and design in general. The research results are to be tested and validated with real test runs of a highly automated shuttle bus in the city of Grafing. The concept is to be transferred to other municipalities at a later date.

Tasks 3D Mapping Solutions

  • High-precision traffic area detection with adapted measurement technology.
  • Derivation of HD maps based on OpenDRIVE.
  • Further object reconstructions based on the acquisition data.
  • Acquisition and provision of sensor reference measurements for the validation of simulation solutions.
  • Alignment with existing geobase data and cadastral data.
  • Interface to the VCS platform.
